NDIS Canberra

Adapting to the changes and challenges brought by one’s disability can be a tough mountain to climb. Fortunately, for Canberra residents with disabilities, they do not have to face these struggles alone. Through the help of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), individuals who require support for their permanent and/or significant disabilities can now receive funding to aid their treatment. These supports and services seek to assist participants during their recovery, so that they may fulfill their personal and professional goals and live their life in the best way possible.

Getting to know NDIS Canberra

Ever since 2016, the NDIS has been assisting thousands of disabled individuals all over Australia. The primary goal of NDIS is to facilitate and develop a consistent approach to grant persons with disabilities access to planned and funded supports. Through the funding of individualised packages, NDIS can provide participants with the necessary services to allow them to live more comfortably.

This assistance is now extended to residents of Canberra, who have acquired disabilities affecting their physical, intellectual, cognitive, psychosocial and sensory aspects. Once accepted as a participant of NDIS, the individual will have access to mainstream services such as health care, housing assistance, educational resources; as well as community services like support groups, libraries and sports clubs.

NDIS gives utmost importance to helping each participant reach their milestones so that they can experience a fulfilling life. That is why becoming an NDIS participant allows for numerous advantages: These are:

  • Participants can avail of reasonable and necessary supports to make their situation more manageable. These supports include early intervention for children with disabilities.

  • The supports can further strengthen the participant’s skills and independence, while encouraging them to engage with social and economic activities. This will benefit them by boosting their self-confidence and in helping them build a meaningful relationship with their community.

  • Participant are guaranteed to receive top-quality and innovative supports, up-to-date information, as well as services from professionally-trained NDIS-registered health care providers.

  • Participant have the complete freedom to decide what supports best accommodate their needs. They also have the ability to control the planning of these services, including when and where they can receive them.

  • With lowered living expenses and decreased medical costs, participants can focus entirely on their recovery. This will also benefit the participant’s family and caretakers, who will have one less thing to worry about.

  • NDIS makes sure that its participants are given full attention and importance through their journey to recovery; thus, the supports and services they receive always come with genuine respect and care.

Receiving Supports from NDIS Canberra

NDIS can give their participants support that will aid their permanent and significant disability. This means that the disability should be one that significantly impacts how they accomplish their daily routines and will most likely affect them for the rest of their lives. NDIS believes that with the proper treatment and assistance, participants can develop their skills in being independent, while being more open to participating in their workplace and community. Above all, through the help of NDIS, participants will find their goals and aspirations within their reach.

The reasonable and necessary supports from NDIS are services that are related to the disability of the participant and will be effective and useful to enhance their lives. Although the supports will not include the daily living costs of the participant, such as grocery costs, they will still represent value for money. Additionally, while the participant chooses the type of services they require, NDIS will be taking into account the other types of assistance that the participant is already receiving. These may be coming from their families, support networks, community, caretakers and government agencies.
